Tattoos: Taboo, expression or art?
The art comes in many forms, such as music, dance, sculpture, literature and painting. In the case of the painting it has been done on different surfaces and shapes, from hieroglyphics and even use a special canvas like skin. Tattoos are made with a needle carrying ink on the tip to penetrate the skin, leaving scarred forever, with permanent drawings.
For some groups representing social status, to some religious and social circles is taboo, and for many people is a simple way of expressing feelings, emotions, important facts, events and people.
In a survey, 7 in 10 people feel that having tattoos is of social discrimination; 68% of respondents would not hire a person with tattoos for best appearance. In another survey 30% of people associate tattoos with a lack of professionalism and 30% consider it a sign of rebellion.
A tattoo is a fashion, a way of expression, a way to create their own identity, to be original and stand out from the rest, a desire to have beautiful images, art, a form of belonging to a group, a protest against society, a contentious issue.
And… What do you think of tattoos?
